screenprint
Joined my friend in an attempt to help expose some screens for a project he is working on. He used capillary film instead of emulsion and we met up at One Shot Supplies. One shot supplies; think Ben Franklin crafts on crack. It has lots of art supplies that you wouldn’t find anywhere else in Hawaii....While the convenience is great, there are no price tags or catalogs on the shelves so the only way of finding the price is to take it up to the register (sketch, more on that later), or to ask a random employee who’s wandering around the building trying to avoid any and all types of work. In every visit I’ve been there in the past, each employee there makes me feel like a burden to be a customer there. One time, I asked the lady at the register how much it would cost to remedy a fame and she quoted me $35. A friend of mine needed his screen recessed and they told him he has to remove the mesh and sealant himself and it would cost $25. In both instances, they did not ask for the size of the screen 🙄
My friend had paid to use their equipment, I think it was $40 an hour to rent the room? I don’t want to turn this into a hate post so I’ll wrap it up. Nothing really worked how it was supposed to, the exposure vacuum unit had leaks that were half-assed repaired with duct tape (leaked the entire time we tried to expose), what’s the point of having the exposure unit in the room that is near the entrance windows so sunlight is glaring right on through, might as well have just used direct sunlight because the exposure unit and cooling fan were crap and it’s just a very messy, unmaintained room that needs to be correctly managed if they want to charge money for it.
