coffee plantation

Mountain Thunder Plantation

Took a trip up to Big Island for a first birthday party.  First stop, coffee shop.  Found a little spot in Kona town, Frenchman Cafe'... pretty good coffee and quality food for cheap.  5 star on yelp, cant go wrong.  Now that we're 26 (buzzfeed considers that an adult, ugh) we were able to rent a car for the first time without having to pay those extra "im not an adult which means im a terrible driver" fees.  Took a drive up into the mountains and lost reception.  We followed the smell and wifi signal and found ourselves at a coffee plantation.  Got a free tour and learned the process on how the coffee berry makes it to our morning cup.  The smell alone is enough to convince someone to take a trip to a coffee plantation, but knowing the amount of work and dedication it takes to make coffee, takes my appreciation for coffee to a whole other level.  Altitude, geographical location, humidity, rain and a bunch of other things are all factors in to how rich your coffee will taste.  Take the jump below to see the factory at Mountain Thunder Plantation.

Huge mahalo to Kit and Ace who provided some gear for us to wear on our trip.  This is the Kit and Ace robinson tee that can be bought here  Check out there new store at Ala Moana mall!
