With the holidays coming up, there was a big push by brand collaborations in hopes to get some hype up for the shopping season. When I found out that Google wanted to send me a Google Home Mini, I was so stoked and wondered what type of partnership they were looking for. Im sure you will see them all over the shelves but they did a collaboration with GE and packed up a kit that includes a Google Home Mini and GE Smart Bulb. The Home Mini runs for about $55 and the bulb is around $15. For the next month or so, Best Buy will be running a super sick deal that will include this kit for only $49! I promised I wouldnt compare it to other smart home systems but to keep it in a simple statement, this thing works.
We tested this baby out for about a month before I had to make my post, you know, just to try it before I compiled a review. Its literally plug and play. Setup is easy and quick and I was a little skeptical when the instructions said that you just had to install the lightbulb in the same room as the Home Mini. Being me, I put it 2 rooms away, just to see if it would work and it did. You can set it to turn the lights on when you leave the house or come home so we realized we should get more bulbs. Its voice activated so you can ask it turn to the lights on/off, ask for the weather, or the biggest thing that makes this more useful than a homepod, you can play your morning playlist when you wake up from Spotify. The speaker itself is pretty great for what we need it for and has a decent full sound. We are living in the future people, and for only $49, its a steal.
