Given the current pandemic, I have been on the market for an affordable electric standing desk that didnt sacrifice quality. After some searching, I found many great reviews of options I couldnt wait to get my hands on. Until that is, I learned just how much it would cost to have an electric desk shipped to Hawaii. Why on earth would I spend more on the cost of shipping than on the cost of the actual desk? There are some companies that will charge you $200-$400 to ship to Hawaii (despite offering free shipping to US…yall know that Hawaii is considered to be part of the US, right?). There is even a company whos website couldn’t calculate a shipping cost to Hawaii, neither could the agents who I chatted with, emailed with, and spoke over the phone with. I would 1000% percent love to call that company out right here but this post is about a godsend that made my life much better.

I was familiar with the Vivo brand because I purchased my monitor stand from them a few years back. That stand is all sorts of beat up, scratches from rearranging my monitors all the time and just your everyday office scuffs. But yet, it works just the same as it did from day 1. I checked out their website and was so stoked to learn that they sell more than just your favorite monitor stand. They sell all sorts of office solutions but one stuck out about the rest, this Electric Height Adjustable Desk.

Don’t let this image scare you! This is the entire desk setup (the actual desk is shipped in a separate box…the website states that items could arrive in separate shipments but luckily, mines arrived at the same time) and comes with all the tools you need to put it together. You do need a screwdriver but pictured here is a drill for effect haha. If it werent for the pandemic and Hawaii being in lockdown (no gatherings of 5+ and household must be immediate family only…..yes, thats as confusing for the people who had to live that), I would have had a photographer/videographer to help capture the setup. But instead, I had to stop every now and then to set up the tripod, lighting, and camera timer to snap some pics. I think I could have had this thing setup within half an hour, easily. The one thing I was worried about was the placement of the height control panel; luckily, the desk comes predrilled with holes for the legs, cable management, and BOTH sides of your desk to place the control panel!

If you’re reading this, yes, I literally took my desk apart to put it back together so someone could photograph it. The things you do for content creation!

Having this modern looking desk will definitely help my creatively flow, especially since we have the space to make this a designated work spot. I want to thank the folks at Vivo for making this all possible because without them, I would still be working from bed or lying down on the couch. This entire idea came from using a high patio set on the lanai and kitchen counter which were both at an awkward height. That made me slouch a bit and get uncomfortable, which sent me to the couch. It was an endless cycle of bad habits that has now been fixed. For something as simple as a desk, I had no idea how much your productive output could increase just by having a dedicated workspace that inspires you. Its sleek design has also made me want to keep the desktop clean and using high quality product to stick with the aesthetic.
